Hi, does anyone know how to make a quality recording at home? I have tried to record myself with an iPhone but the quality is terrible? Is there any specific equipment I need? Thanks

What are you trying to record?

I would imagine you need a PC / laptop, some software such as logic pro, ableton live, cubase, garagband  etc.. (there are lots available) and an audio interface that you can plug mic / instrument into that then plugs into you computer.

The software usually has virtual instruments in and so you can type notes in, use a midi controller or import midi files to play etc

Hi, Sarah! At the most basic level, you'd need a microphone (perhaps a USB mic so it can plug directly into your computer) and software like Garage Band or Audacity (free download). You can sing with karaoke tracks (listening to the track in headphones) and edit the karaoke track + your vocal together using that software.

I really like Recording Revolution on YouTube for home recording & editing advice. Here he even has a tutorial on recording + editing with an iPhone
